52-4 Change is...

Some times change happens seemingly out of nowhere! We've had a really strange winter here in WI. It's been really mild and we haven't had much snow. Not even on Christmas... which does not make it easy for me to get into the mood of the season. I was that kid that was looking out her window on Christmas Eve... but not for Santa. I stayed up wishing it would snow like crazy!

Monday morning we had crazy weather. It was raining when I woke up and then all the sudden there were HUGE white fluffy snowflakes falling from the sky. But, of course, by the time I was able to grab the Little Mister and the camera and get outside, it was already transitioning to the heavy wet snow that eventually turned into freezing rain and sleet. It changed back to snow and back to rain a few more times that day.

Anyway, sometimes change is surprising... and fun!

iheartfaces - By the Book

This week's challenge at I Heart Faces is By the Book.  The picture of my little mister is from the holidays but I think it works.  :)  Isn't he cute? I love that he loves to read.

52-3 Change is...

This week I have a happy picture to go along with some crummy circumstances. It's really been quite the week. There have been many ups and downs. I thought of all these different photos I could have taken but decided to put a cute one up anyway... simply because in the midst of all of the changes that happened this week, this photo represents a good one.

To briefly fill you in, we started the week being informed that 3 of our pastors are no longer going to be pastoring our church. This, and the circumstances surrounding it, is heartbreaking and a huge blow to our congregation. Our church, through some other events, has recently gone from having 6 pastors down to the 1. Crazy change.

Then, the Packers didn't earn their spot in the playoffs. Really? Who was that team that was playing on Sunday? It certainly wasn't last year's champs! I know this is a silly one, but losing out on the dream of back-to-back Superbowl championships is a big mindset change for some folks living up here in Packer Nation.

Two of our immediate family members were informed this week that they are being laid off from their jobs. Talk about a change...

Winter finally showed up in WI. We have been hovering around the 40's pretty consistently all winter so far and right now it's -3 out and like -15 with the wind chill and we have about 6-8 inches of snow on the ground with 3-5 more coming today!

And, now... finally the explanation of the photo I chose for this week. With the Little Mister, I was very proud to be the mama who had our son sleeping in his own crib in his own room from the 2nd night we were home. I loved that he adjusted so well and that we were comfortable having him in his own bed. I was given this Moses basket but never really used it because of the fact that he never needed it!

Well, this time around, since the Little Mister still gets up pretty frequently with night terrors and we're moving across the country shortly after she's born, we are planning on having the Little Miss stay in the Moses basket. I'm planning on making some new bedding for it, too. I had to get over the pride of having a child sleep in their own room and accept the fact that I am no less of a mom just because my baby is going to be nearby at night. (Not to say this plan can't change after she's here)  ;)

*Disclaimer: this is not to cast judgement on ANYONE who keeps their baby in the bedroom with the parents at night. I'm merely confessing that I had a pride issue that, due to my circumstances, is being knocked out of me. I am a firm believer in people doing what they feel is best for them and their own children and if sleeping in the same room works for you, go to it! The hubby and I are really light sleepers and every noise the Little Mister made woke us up.

Love and hugs to you all,

52-2 Change is...

The crazy thing about it is that just a few weeks ago he needed our help with things like spaghetti and soup. but, this week we noticed that our just-turned-2 year old little mister has grasped the concept of keeping his utensils flat so as not to spill. He did so well!

It's not like we didn't see it coming. He's growing up so fast and learning things so quickly. And, as much as I'm a little relieved by his independence with the new baby coming in just a few weeks, part of me is still sad that my baby boy isn't a baby anymore.

iheartfaces - Best face of 2011

So, I've had lots of photos this year that have caused a stir but one in particular stands out in my mind.

This little man was helping announce the coming of his baby sister. Doesn't he look excited?!  ;)

My Project 52

Hi all!

I have to admit (if I haven't already... which, I'm sure I have) that I love The Styleberry Blog. Shawna is pretty awesome and has encouraged me in many ways. From first stumbling upon her blog when I needed help getting started making my own baby food, to exploring the possibility of cloth diapers, to how to encourage my hubby, she keeps me interested with each new post.

One thing I loved following on her blog last year was her Project 52. She took a new photo each week to capture a picture of what motherhood meant to her that week. There were ups and downs throughout the year but now she has a whole collection of memories.

I was inspired.

I'm taking the challenge to do my own Project 52 this year and my theme is going to be Change.

A lot is changing for us this year... and this will be a great way to remember it all and how it felt to go through it.

So, on that note, here is my first week. I had a few things to choose from but settled on this:

The hubby and I putting together our support letters.

The hubby and I have entered a time of raising support. For those of you who don't know, raising support is something some full-time missionaries do. We are going to be full-time staff at a Christian Mountain Adventure camp in Southwestern Colorado. So, not only is this going to be a big change for us in that we're moving across the country, but we are going from being individuals who get paid like most people to being completely dependent on the generosity of those who feel called to join our support team.

(To learn more about my hubby's new job, click on the Camp Redcloud link that is at the top of this page)

This girl loves to plan. And, then to execute those plans.

But, this is out of my control. It's in God's hands now. He's the only One who can provide for our needs and get us to Colorado so my hubby can start doing the job that he is so excited to do: be the Equestrian Program Manager.

I know he was made for a job like this. Horses, mountains, ministry... he is so perfectly suited for this job.

So, now we wait. We wait in expectation for what God is going to do to help us be more dependent on Him and to get to the new jobs waiting for us in a new place.

Change is scary... but it's good.

And, here's a bonus "change" for the family...

Since the little mister turned 2 last month, he switched from the nursery to the 2 year old class at church!
Here's me dropping off our big boy!

I can't even stand how fast these 2 years went!

ps: I didn't use this picture for my project this week because I didn't take it!
